The State of Israel (Hebrew: מִדינַת יִשֵָל; Arabic: دولة إِسْرَائِيل), abbreviated as "Israel". It is a country located in the Levant of Western Asia, on the south-eastern coast of the Mediterranean Sea, bordered by Lebanon to the north, Syria and Jordan to the east, and Egypt to the south-west. The State of Israel was proclaimed in 1948. With a total population of 9.02 million in 2019, of which 6.69 million are Jewish, Israel is the only country in the world where Jews are the majority nation.
SII is product certification system established under Israel's standardization laws and standardization directives, and all electronic and electrical products exported to Israel must obtain SII certification.
SII is the abbreviation for Standards Institution of Israel. As a non-governmental organization, SII is directly administered by the Israeli government and is responsible for standardization, product testing and product certification in Israel. For products entering Israel, Israel uses customs inspection and control to ensure that they meet the relevant quality requirements. It usually takes a long time to finish the cargo inspection. However, if the importer has obtained an SII certificate before shipment, the customs inspection process will be greatly reduced, and the Israeli Customs will only verify the consistency of the goods with the certificate, without spot checks.
Most of Israel's standards are non-mandatory. But when it comes to public safety, public health or the protection of the environment, standards become mandatory. According to the Israeli Standardization Law, products are classified into the following four classes according to the degree of hazard to public health and safety:
Class I: Highest risk
Such as household appliances, children's toys, pressure vessels, portable foam fire extinguishers
Class II: medium risk
Such as sunglasses, balls for various purposes, mounting pipes, carpets, bottles, building materials
Class III: lower risk
Such as tiles, ceramic sanitary ware
Class IV: For industrial use only and not directly to consumers
Such as industrial electronics
How do I apply for SII certification?
Since Israel is a member of the IECEE - CB, SII recognizes and accepts CB test reports issued by IECEE - CB member countries. Importers may apply for SII certification by the following two methods:
Method 1 (8 - 16 weeks): the product is tested by SII or other approved Israeli testing laboratory.
Method 2 (about 4 weeks): This product is certified CB compliant with the national deviation. CB reports and samples are provided with the application.
It is important to note that the SII certificate needs to be held by a local Israeli company.
Israel certification requirements for radio equipment
For radio products and telecommunications equipment, approval from Israel's Ministry of Communications (MoC) is also required prior to entry into Israel. Radio equipment requires certification of radio terminal equipment by the MoC; telecommunications equipment connected to the public network requires type certification by the MoC.
MoC covers a range of radio/wireless technology products, including but not limited to:
Bluetooth
Keyless system
Wireless network
WiMax technology
UMTS
GSM
LTE
ANT / ANT +
ZigBee
