The International Standardization Organization (ISO) announced on its official website that the new international standard ISO 45001 for occupational health and safety management system was officially released from March 12, 2018. Organizations that have obtained OHSAS 18001 certification will have three years to move to the new standard (the transition period is from March 12, 2018 to March 12, 2021. After the transition period, the OHSAS 18001 certification certificate will be invalid).
As the first international standard to deal with occupational health and safety in the world, the ISO 45001 is issued to provide a concise and clear management framework for the field of occupational health and safety management, and introduce advanced management concepts, which is called an epoch-making product by external comments! ISO 45001 is seamlessly integrated with more than 40 versions of OHSAS standards, providing a unified occupational health and safety management system standard for the world.
The new ISO 45001 provides a framework to allow organizations to identify and reduce occupational health and safety risks so as to create a safe and healthy work environment. the organizations that are established and effectively implement the occupational health and safety management system according to ISO 45001 standard can promote the improvement of their overall occupational health and safety performance through the application of the following requirements:
Develop and implement occupational health and safety policies and objectives;
Establish and implement corresponding processes to consider the impact of the organization's environment, manage risks and opportunities, and compliance obligations;
Identify operational hazards and risks that may lead to injury and eliminate or control them to minimize injury;
Enhance awareness of risks;
Establish and implement corresponding processes to manage risks and compliance obligations during operation;
Strengthen the support of the top management;
Strengthen the participation and negotiation of employees and their representatives.
