Project Background

Tea, as a unique food and beverage in China, ranks first in the world in terms of its output and consumption. Tea categories are mainly divided into green tea, black tea, oolong tea, white tea, yellow tea, dark tea and reprocessed scented tea, compressed tea, teabag and other tea products.

Tea quality safety involves pesticide residues, heavy metal pollution, mold deterioration, illegal additions by undesirable businesses, contamination by foreign matters and so on, which may occur in tea planting, processing, transportation and storage. Among them, the phenomenon of pesticide residues is particularly prominent. Whether it is for national supervision and casual inspection or export to the European Union, the United States and other countries, the problem of excessive pesticide residues in tea will always be notified, especially some highly frequently used pesticides, such as imidacloprid and isocarbophos, glyphosate, acetamiprid, anthraquinone, tolfenpyrad, etc.

Laws and Regulations Basis

There are many types of tea. The main product standards related to tea are Green Tea (GB/T 14456), Black Tea (GB/T 13738), Oolong Tea (GB/T 30357), White Tea (GB/T 22291), Yellow Tea (GB/T 21726), Dark Tea (GB/T 32719), Pressed Tea (GB/T 9833), Tea Bag (GB/T 24690), Jasmine Tea (GB/T 22292), etc.
