India BIS(ISI)

In 1955, ISI (Indian Standards Institution) certification was implemented, mainly on a voluntary basis.

In 1987, the BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards) was established, replacing the ISI (Indian Standards Institution), and was responsible for product certification. ISI certification is also known as BIS certification.

On January 28, 2004, the Indian government released an official notice, stipulated that all imported products belonging to one of 109 kinds of products for BIS compulsory import certification (mainly including bulk consumer goods and products related to energy conservation and consumer safety and health, such as: food additives, mineral oil, milk powder, milk, baby milk products, cement, etc.) cannot be sold in the market until the foreign producers or Indian importers applied BIS certification and obtain the ISI certificate.

BIS(ISI) Certification Procedure

Prepare relevant documents (such as business license, list of equipment produced by the factory, etc.) and submit them to BIS

BIS will arrange relevant officials for the factory inspection after the documents are verified
